Dr. Sonya Malani graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers University with a degree in Biological Sciences. She later received her doctorate from the State University of New York College of Optometry, where she graduated with high honors and is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society. She then completed an additional one year residency specializing in Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery at OMNI Eye Services NJ, where she worked alongside a number of distinguished ocular surgeons. Through her residency, she has given a number of continuing education lectures on ocular pathology.
As a result of her training, Dr. Malani has developed an interest in treating and managing glaucoma patients in addition to the pre- and post-operative care of cataract surgery patients. She also has a strong interest in pediatrics and preventing the progression of myopia (near-sightedness) in young patients.
